Check out this great video about our mission, programs, and custom-made opportunities exploring the confluence of local history, ecology, and the magic of river paddling.
We connect explorers with the unique natural resources and history of Virginia's Rappahannock watershed. We deliver paddling, fishing, birding, hiking, biking, and youth programs.
Rappahannock Adventures is veteran-owned and operated.
The Rappahannock watershed is central to the story of America. Native Americans moved into this region more than 10,000 years ago. In 1608, Capt. John Smith of Jamestown explored the Rappahannock from its mouth to the Fall Line. Colonial pirates and Revolutionary patriots roamed these waters. The Civil War in Virginia was anchored on the Rappahannock Line, and the legacy of our historic commercial fishing industry endures today, in partnership with many conservation efforts.
Each experience is carefully crafted to promote meaningful connections between land, water, wildlife, and you. Programs are hosted by professional guides and trainers who uphold industry best practices and safety standards.
Rappahannock Adventures owner Woodie Walker is a longtime outdoor adventure guide and environmental educator. He is known for leading high-quality fishing trips, history-themed adventure paddles, and hikes, with partners like Virginia Outside, Virginia Outdoor Center, and numerous other non-profits and government agencies.
Composed of 30 semi-independent, locally focused chapters, the VMN program is actively supported, guided, and represented by the over-arching statewide VMN program.
Through their local chapters, VMN volunteers train and serve with the variety of partner groups and institutions.
